SCUBA

Buying Gear

The selection of your SCUBA gear is one of the most important tasks in becoming a diver — one that does not stop when you become certified. As you increase your skills and gain experience, your equipment needs may change. We believe all diving systems should be flexible and have varied capabilities because few of us only do one kind of diving or dive in only a single location.

Narragansett Pier Dive Shop is the best stocked scuba and freediving shop in southern Rhode Island. We carry a wide range of quality, name-brand equipment at affordable prices. We can help you purchase the right equipment for your dive style and budget. All equipment purchased from our store includes a full factory warranty and we stand behind everything we sell.

**As a note, we do not list our gear on our website as many of our leading manufacturers do not allow their lines to be sold on-line. This does NOT mean that you must come into our shop to buy gear from us. We are happy to sell any item we carry over the phone or via email.

Instruction

Narragansett Pier Dive Shop offer SCUBA courses from Open Water Diver through Dive Master, including Advanced Nitrox and and Azimuth Rebreather courses for those divers who are interested in learning about breathing enriched air. Plus we are the only shop in southern Rhode Island to offer freedive and spearfishing instruction.

Courses

Group and private lessons run continually throughout the year.

Our Instructors

We currently have multiple instructors on staff, each specializing in different areas of expertise.

  • Matt Robinson began his diving under the wings of veteran wreck divers Bill Campbell and Capt. Billy Palmer who gained wide recognition for their diving efforts on wrecks such as Andrea Doria and U-853. Both are spoken highly [...]
  • Joe Klinger is an environmental scientist and part-owner of a local consulting firm, a USCG licensed captain, and NAUI dive instructor. Joe has been spearfishing in RI since [...]

Instructor Hall of Fame

Past instructors at our shop have included David Sipperly (two-time All-American Freediver and co-author of Freedive!) and Brian Carney (President of SDI/TDI).
